Erich Hermès (1881-1971)

Erich Hermès (1881-1971), best known for his work as a poster artist and for his architectural decors, was one of the most important Geneva painters of the first half of the 20th century.

Initially close to Ferdinand Hodler, whose work had a profound influence on his early years, he distanced himself over time to forge his own personal style, which he applied to a variety of media and techniques. In addition to Switzerland (where he lived in Geneva, Valais and the canton of Uri), he frequently visited Paris and Spain, destinations that greatly inspired him.
